Durant Following LeBron, D Wade With Fox Sports Prison Documentary ‘Q Ball’

First was LeBron James, then was Dwyane Wade and Chance the Rapper, now, it’s Kevin Durant that’s teaming up with Fox Sports for a documentary. The film is going to be about the basketball team at San Quentin State Prison in California and is set to debut early in 2019. Michael Tolajian, who directed the Once Brothers 30 for 30 from ESPN and The Drive docuseries for the Pac-12 Network, has been tabbed as the director of the film, titled Q Ball.

LeBron’s 89 Blocks, Wade/Chance’s Shot in the Dark, and now Durant’s Q Ball are all part of Fox Sports’ Magnify series. Next month, they’ll also be releasing a documentary about the 2016 LaMia Flight 2933 plane crash — which was carrying the Chapecoense soccer team.

The basketball team at San Quentin is known as the San Quentin Warriors. They’ve been profiled by The Athletic and been blessed with visits from the real-life Warriors. Durant spoke about the visits in Fox Sports’ official press release.

“My first visit to San Quentin with my teammates was an unforgettable experience that moved me and made me want to bring it to a larger audience”. -Kevin Durant

In the meantime, Durant will play in his third NBA Finals starting this week and hopefully, capture his second NBA Championship ring.
