RaysUp: Selecting The 10 Best MLB Hashtags For 2018
Every year, all 30 MLB teams come up with a new hashtag for fans and franchise folks to use on social media. Sometimes, the tags are awful, unoriginal, and boring — like, #TexasRangers or #Dodgers — other times, though, they’re dope. Here, we’ll select the 10 coolest MLB hashtags.
No. 10 – #RaisedRoyal — Kansas City Royals
Just because the Royals aren’t contenders anymore doesn’t mean their social media team isn’t talented. #RaisedRoyal, unlike some other teams, is original and gives Kansas City fans the opportunity to share a lot of different things. Besides the basic ways, fans could use it in a braggadocio way or as a way to share childhood memories of KC fandom.
No. 9 – #TrueToTheBlue — Seattle Mariners
This tag is cool because, like Kevin Costner in ‘Waterworld’, Mariners are sailors — Blue=Water.
No. 8 – #JuntosMiami — Miami Marlins
A nod to Miami’s spanish-speaking culture, #JuntosMiami translates to ‘Together Miami’. While I feel there are better ones than this, CBS Sports picked the Marlins’ hashtag as the No. 1 tag out of all 30 MLB teams.
No. 7 – #Rockies25th — Colorado Rockies
Big shouts to Don Baylor, Joe Girardi, and the 1993 Colorado Rockies. We made it, boys.
No. 6 – #NeverSettle — Houston Astros
Last year, the Houston Astros won the World Series trophy. Now, with even more stud pitchers, the squad wants another one. #NeverSettle
No. 5 – #DirtyWater — Boston Red Sox
Besides “Sweet Caroline” and a few of those Dropkick Murphys’ songs, “Dirty Water” is the unofficial anthem of the BoSox.
No. 4 – #OnePursuit — Washington Nationals
The Nats have had trouble in the playoffs. Maybe with the Capitals finally getting the job done, the #OnePursuit tag can finally propel the franchise to their own postseason success. After all, they have the bats and the pitching.
No. 3 – #Birdland — Baltimore Orioles
Yeah, I know the Orioles are a bad baseball team and they’re going to lose all their players but still, #Birdland is so friggin’ cool and a universal calling card for all of Baltimore’s faithful.
No. 2 – #ChopOn — Atlanta Braves
This one works so well and is super original. The Braves are contenders again after building their team up organically and now, they just need to keep pushing forward. #ChopOn
No. 1 – #RaysUp — Tampa Bay Rays
The Rays don’t have a ton of dudes that casual fans would recognize but whoever came up with #RaysUp is a flat-out superstar. Get it? #RaysUp is like Raise Up! Man, this tag is so good it makes it seem OK to root for Carlos Gomez. Not really, but still.
