Reason to Watch: Serenity is a straightforward thriller about a man (Matthew McConaughey) that finds himself defending his ex-wife (Anne Hathaway) from her new husband. Right up my alley…can’t wait.

Reason to Watch: Not a film for everyone but it’s a WWII drama starring Tom Hanks. On the strength of Saving Private Ryan, that means something.
Where’d You Go, Bernadette
Genre: Drama
Release Date: March 22nd, 2019
Reason to Watch: A film based on a book with an all-star cast — Kristen Wiig, Laurence Fishburne, Cate Blanchett, Judy Greer — that’s directed by the great Richard Linklater.
Dumbo

Reason to Watch: Live-action Disney remake of a classic, directed by Tim Burton and starring Colin Farrell, Danny DeVito, and Michael Keaton.
Aladdin

Reason to Watch: Another live-action Disney remake that’s going to be a smash. Will Smith takes the reigns from Robin Williams here as the scene-stealing Genie.

The Secret Life of Pets 2

Reason to Watch: No Louis C.K. this time around but the first one was awesome and surprisingly realistic.
Child’s Play

Reason to Watch: This remake, which stars Aubrey Plaza and Brian Tyree Henry, is going to be better than the original.

Release Date: June 28th, 2019
Reason to Watch: Not entirely sure what to expect here (besides a lot of cars) but it stars two legit heavyweights — Christian Bale and Matt Damon — and is directed by James Mangold (Walk The Line, 3:10 to Yuma).

Reason to Watch: Talk about a summer blockbuster; this thing is going to break all sorts of records…

Reason to Watch: A little love for the sci-fi fans. This one has a lot of potential, with Will Smith as the lead and Ang Lee directing, but they’re also prone to the occasional bomb.
Joker
Genre: Thriller
Release Date: October 4th, 2019
Reason to Watch: Nobody can top Heath Ledger’s performance as The Joker but Joaquin Phoenix is going to crush it, guaranteed. Robert DeNiro also has a role in the film.
You Are My Friend
Genre: Biopic
Release Date: October 18th, 2019
Reason to Watch: Low-key pumped to see Tom Hanks performance as Mr. Rogers; I love when a legend takes on a historical figure (ie: DeNiro as Madoff, Pacino as Paterno, etc.). It should be noted that some places have the film’s title as A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood.
Star Wars: Episode IX
