A Very Timely Scene From ‘Cheers’ Season One
I’ve been down the Cheers rabbit hole for a few days now. It’s been amazing. You can’t be with your actual friends but the gang from the bar fills the role as good as anyone. One of the cold opens from season one (“Showdown, Part 2”) jumped out at me because of its timeliness; it features a hilarious synchronized bar-clean and sanitization after one of the patrons — who’s been working in a lab that deals with viruses — exits.
I’m not the only one that found it timely. One of the clips on YouTube (above) was posted recently, has hundreds of thousands of views, and features “coronavirus” in the title, and Cliff Clavin from Cheers — real name John Ratzenberger — posted the clip on his Twitter account a few days ago.
