AAC Football Week 8 Power Rankings, Schedule & Odds
AAC Power Rankings (Week 8)
Key: Power Ranking: Team (Current Record, +/-)
#12: UConn (1-5, -)
No surprise here. Huskies were nearly shutout at Tulane but a late touchdown nixed it. The only game UConn may win the rest of the way is a non-con matchup against UMass.
#11: Tulsa (2-4, -2)
Penalties continue to kill them and their defense is super suspect, allowing 32+ points per game. Cincy is a big road favorite against Golden Hurricane this weekend.
#10: Houston (2-4, -3)
Cougs are allowing a ton of points on defense (33 per game) and Clayton Tune, their new QB1, completed just 33 percent of his passes with three picks against Cincinnati in Week 7.
#9: East Carolina (3-3, +1)
Pirates look to be improving, which is a good sign in Mike Houston’s first season at the helm. Don’t think they’ll lose as bad as people think this weekend at Central Florida.
#8: South Florida (3-3, +3)
Back-to-back wins have shot the Bulls up the AAC Football Power Rankings. Long trip up to Annapolis for a game vs. Navy is a tough task in Week 8, especially since Jordan McCloud is questionable.
#7: Navy (4-1, +1)
Held Tulsa to 17 points a week after they hung 37 on SMU. Defense is allowing just 18.8 points per game through five games this year — No. 1 in AAC.
#6: Memphis (5-1, -4)
Lost a tough one on the road to Temple. Won’t get any easier against a spunky Tulane team this Saturday. Tigers still have a solid resume with wins over Ole Miss and Navy and the conference’s most efficient quarterback.
#5: Tulane (5-1, -)
Romped UConn in Week 7. Could be in line for their first eight-win season since 2002. Really fun team to watch and they’re finally getting some national attention.
#4: UCF (4-2, -)
Golden Knights have more losses this year than 2017 and 2018 combined. Expect them to try and embarrass East Carolina this weekend.
#3: Temple (5-1, +3)
Huge win at home against previously unbeaten Memphis. Ranked #25 in Week 8 Coaches Poll. Front-7 getting after it; three sacks and eight tackles for loss vs. Tigers.
#2: Cincinnati (5-1, +1)
Cincinnati’s defense has seven interceptions in their last two games. Offensive line doing a great job keeping sophomore QB Desmond Ridder upright.
#1: SMU (6-0, -)
Coming off a bye week, Southern Methodist is the highest-ranked AAC football team in the AP Top 25 (#19). They’ll put their undefeated season on the line against a team that busted Memphis’ perfect season in Week 7 (Temple).
