ACC & Big 10 Bowl Game Affiliations & Tie-Ins
ACC and Big 10 bowl game affiliations and tie-ins.
It’s unfortunate that Maryland finished at 5-7 this year because they really played a lot of good teams tough and deserve a postseason. With that said, Virginia will be eligible for a bowl despite their late-season collapse and disappointment. Here, we’ll lay out the potential bowl games for both of their conferences (ACC & Big 10), according to each conference’s official website.
ACC:
College Football Playoff (if selected)
Peach Bowl or Fiesta Bowl
-If the ACC Champion is not in the top four it will appear in either the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl or the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl. Other teams could also make the Peach or Fiesta Bowl as at-large bids.
Camping World Bowl
-The Camping World Bowl has first pick of an ACC team after the CFP & New Year’s Six are filled, according to the ACC’s website.
Tier One Bowls (all equal selection status)
Belk Bowl
Sun Bowl
New Era Pinstripe Bowl
Franklin American Mortgage Music City or TaxSlayer Bowl
According to College Football News, “ACC and Big Ten combine in the Music City and TaxSlayer, with each getting three appearances in six years. The ACC played in the Music City in 2015 and the TaxSlayer in 2016 and 2017. It’s almost certainly going to be in the Music City but can still play in the TaxSlayer.”
Tier Two Bowls
Walk-On’s Independence Bowl
Military Bowl
Quick Lane Bowl
Gasparilla Bowl or First Responder Bowl (formerly the Heart of Dallas Bowl)
Secondary
Birmingham Bowl
-If not filled by other conferences and additional ACC teams are available

Rose Bowl
-When not hosting a CFP national semifinal, the Big Ten Champion will play in the Rose Bowl Game, unless it is among the top four teams.
-If Big Ten Champion is selected to play in a national semifinal, then the Rose Bowl will select a Big Ten replacement team for the 2019 Rose Bowl.
Citrus Bowl or Orange Bowl
-Orange Bowl in 2018 will be a national semifinal game, therefore a Big Ten team will not play in the Orange Bowl unless it is a national semifinalist.

Outback Bowl
-Will feature at least five different Big Ten schools during the six-year agreement.
Holiday Bowl
-Will feature at least five different Big Ten schools during the six-year agreement.
Music City Bowl or Gator Bowl
-Either Music City or TaxSlayer Gator Bowl will select Big Ten school in 2018.
-Big Ten will play in three Music City Bowls and three TaxSlayer Gator Bowls during the six-year agreement.
-No Big Ten school will play in more than one Music City Bowl and one TaxSlayer Gator Bowl during the six-year agreement.
New Era Pinstripe Bowl
-Goal is to have eight different Big Ten schools participate in eight years, with a minimum of six different Big Ten schools playing in the Pinstripe Bowl during the eight-year agreement.
Redbox Bowl
–Will feature at least five different Big Ten schools during the six-year agreement.
Quick Lane Bowl
-Will select a Big Ten bowl-eligible school, subject to Conference approval.

Both the Pinstripe Bowl and Quick Lane Bowl will likely feature ACC vs. Big 10 matchups this year. The Pinstripe Bowl has had ACC-Big 10 matchups each of its last four years.
