And the Most Overrated NFL QB is…Kirk Cousins
Washington Redskins fans are used to quarterback drama. Sometimes a guy is a winner but has injury problems, like an Alex Smith or Robert Griffin III, and sometimes they’re just disappointments, like Donovan McNabb and Mark Sanchez. Other times, like in the case of Kirk Cousins, they just think they’re more talented than they really are.
Luckily, thanks to a recent poll of NFL defensive players by The Athletic, the Cousins drama is a little easier to swallow at the moment. Per the poll, which was anonymous, Kirk Cousins beat out Eli Manning as the most overrated quarterback in the NFL.
Nine other QBs received multiple votes, per ESPN 1500, including soon-to-be former Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco.
On the flip side, Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton was selected as the most underrated signal caller out there, edging out Philip Rivers.
Surprise Ravens star Lamar Jackson, as well as Alex Smith, received multiple “underrated” votes.
As for Cousins, who signed a monster deal with the Minnesota Vikings this offseason, this is another black mark on his reputation. On its face, it’s just a poll, but it comes on the heels of a crummy debut in the Twin Cities: Cousins, armed with a team Case Keenum nearly brought to the Super Bowl, failed to even make the playoffs.
