Alexander Charles and Asher Roth Release Fantasy Football-Themed Rap Video

Philly rappers Alexander Charles and Asher Roth teamed up for a fantasy football-themed rap video on Friday.

If there’s anything we learned from our conversation with Asher Roth last year, it’s that he’s a sports guy just like the rest of us. Coming from Philadelphia, it just comes with the territory. So when fellow Philly rapper Alexander Charles tabbed Roth for a fantasy football-themed song, it wasn’t too surprising. The video for the song — titled “Kamara at 6” — was released on via social media on Friday and featured several Philly landmarks, killer rhymes from both sides, and some bad-ass throwback jerseys.

Right from the jump, the video brings heat with a unique Doug Flutie jersey and it never slows down. From there, there’s an ESPN-inspired studio segment, a million football-related name-drops, and a trip to the flagship Mitchell & Ness store on Chestnut Street.

Perhaps the coolest football-related item, though, came in the comment section of Asher’s Instagram video. Former Pro Bowl tight end Martellus Bennett stopped by to praise their performance, placing a “super dope” comment alongside the other well-wishing fans. Bennett, after retiring this past offseason, was just announced as the host of Mostly Football, an hour-long internet talk show produced by Complex and Yahoo Sports.

The new track is part of Alexander Charles’ lofty 52 Weeks project, which highlights a new video every single week of 2018. Besides “Kamara at 6”, Roth and Charles teamed up for “Root Veggies” in February and “A Lot to Learn” in May. Additionally, Roth and Bennett worked together on an animated film — titled Zoovie — back in 2014.

You can listen to the entire 52 Weeks project on Spotify.

It should be noted that Bij Lincs did the production for “Kamara at 6” and Obecuatro shot the video.
