Athletes Who Came Back to Their Original Teams For Final Seasons

(cont’d)

NFL

Plaxico Burress, Pittsburgh

Plax’s most famous years were in New York but he bookended his career in the Burgh. His first five years were spent as a Steeler — including 261 catches and his infamous spike — then, at the end of the 2012 season, he put on the same black #80 jersey for the final four games of his career.

Second stint w/Steelers: 4 GP, 3 REC, 42 YDS, 1 TD

Herschel Walker, Dallas Cowboys

Herschel was a monster coming out of college, then continued his success with the Cowboys right off the bat. In 1988 alone, his third season, he made the Pro Bowl and busted out for over 1,500 rushing yards. That was the Tom Landry era, however, and when Landry was gone, Herschel was famously traded. It wasn’t until Jimmie Johnson left town that he returned, though it was as a kick returner and third-down back.

Second stint w/Cowboys: 32 GP, 2,287 AP YDS, 3 TD

Charles Woodson, Oakland Raiders

Another former Heisman Trophy winner, Charles Woodson is a sure-fire Hall of Famer and Super Bowl champ. He won his ring during his Green Bay stint, but the majority of his career was spent in the black and silver. His first eight years were with Oakland, then he came back for his final three. During his final season, he made the Pro Bowl after picking off five passes and recovering four fumbles. Then, in his final home game, he was also featured on offense to honor his history as a two-way player.

Second stint w/Raiders: 48 GP, 10 INT, 3 SK
