Bill Belichick: “There Were So Many Patriots Fans” at FedEx Field
When the Washington Redskins were on Monday Night Football a few weeks ago, I thought it was odd that the crowd would erupt whenever the Chicago Bears did something positive. After today, however, it’s clear that FedEx Field — home of the Redskins — is really home to whichever team is coming to town.
This is easily the largest Patriots crowd I’ve ever seen at a road game. They’re far outnumbering Redskins fans. pic.twitter.com/vW2bTTJY8W

Patriots’ fans came out in droves for the team’s 33-7 win over Washington on Sunday, with NESN’s Zack Cox saying on Twitter that they were “far outnumbering Redskins fans.” The disparity was so great that reporters after the game asked members of the Patriots about their DMV support. Josh Gordon said “it felt like a home game,” via Adam Zielonka of the Washington Times, and the normally tight-lipped Bill Belichick even shed some light on the situation.
“It was amazing. Oh my God, there were so many Patriots fans there. It was surprising and overwhelming. It was great to see them. Appreciate the support from all our traveling Patriot fans. Or maybe they are from here, I don’t know. It was great to see them. It was awesome.”

With the loss, Washington is now 0-5 on the season and it’s clear they’re not getting support from the fanbase. A new stadium would certainly help the situation, but it must be one that’s not located in Landover, MD, and a new group of folks making the important decisions would go a long way.
