Bradley Beal, John Wall & Otto Porter Staying Put, Per Owner
Judging from the way it looks right now, there won’t be any blockbuster trades involving the Washington Wizards on the horizon. According to NBC Sports Washington, Wizards owner Ted Leonsis told WTOP radio that they were “not trading” Bradley Beal, John Wall, or Otto Porter Jr.
Leonsis added that they’ll “see what’s out there” in regards to the NBA trade deadline, but also assured fans (again) that tanking is not in their plans.
Washington is fresh off a big win against Indiana, but they’ll need to string together several wins if they want to reach the playoffs. So far, they haven’t won more than three games in a row, yet they’ve had two separate substantial losing streaks — five games (10/24 – 11/2) and four games (12/8 – 12/14). On top of that, they’ve been pitiful away from D.C. with just six wins in 26 contests.
That said, the Wizards (22-29) are the No. 9 seed right not in the Eastern Conference, trailing No. 7 Miami (3 GB) and No. 8 Charlotte (2.5 GB). Neither team directly ahead of them is very scary, and top to bottom the Wizards definitely have more talent and star power.
Washington will host Milwaukee on February 2nd on NBC Sports Washington.
