Brent Musburger Owning Life With New FS1 Sports Gambling Show and Raiders Gig
Brent Musburger deserved better than a random Georgia-Kentucky college basketball game as his final broadcast with ESPN. At the time, there was speculation that he was pushed out because of controversial comments about Joe Mixon, but ESPN’s senior vice president Stephanie Druley put those rumors to bed. Instead, word was that Musburger stepped away from play-by-play on his own. All this happened in January of 2017, with Musburger’s final ESPN broadcast coming on January 31st, 2017.
Fast-forward to present day: Brent Musburger is taking over the world (and jumping back into play-by-play).
After launching a sports gambling radio station in Las Vegas (VSiN) upon leaving ESPN, Musburger recently signed a three-year deal to take over play-by-play duties for the Oakland Raiders. Per Matt Bonesteel of The Washington Post, he will replace Greg Papa in the booth this upcoming season and continue until the Raiders move to Musburger’s favorite city — Las Vegas.

While the Raiders’ gig is cool, the reports of a Musburger-led sports gambling show on FS1 are even cooler. Musburger, of course, was famous for always including odds in his broadcasts and referring to his “friends in the desert”. In 2009, he was also prominently featured in ESPN’s sports gambling documentary The Legend of Jimmy The Greek.
Per the Sporting News, Brent Musburger will be joined by Charissa Thompson, oddsmaker Todd Fuhrman and the always-controversial Clay Travis.
Fox is planning a sports betting show featuring Charissa Thompson, Brent Musburger and Clay Travis.

From the Sporting News exclusive report:
“The weekday show is expected to premiere this fall on Fox Sports 1 in the 5-6 p.m. hour after Jason Whitlock’s expanded “Speak for Yourself” moves to an earlier time slot, 3-5 p.m.”
The new sports gambling show comes on the heels of the United States Supreme Court’s decision to legalize the activity. Right now, three states — Nevada, Delaware, and New Jersey — have fully-legalized sports gambling in their limits.
Several others have passed bills to legalize sports gambling.
ESPN has tracked the progress of all states. Below, you can see everyone’s progress (as of July 14th).
