Buffalo Bills: Official Statement on Vontae Davis Strange Retirement
On Sunday, Buffalo Bills defensive back Vontae Davis retired at halftime. This is his official statement, per the NFL’s official Twitter account.
With his team trailing 28-6 at halftime, Buffalo Bills defensive back Vontae Davis retired. Like, he just dipped on everyone in the middle of the game. And despite the fact that they were getting blown out again (Buffalo lost 47-3 last week to Baltimore) it has to be the strangest NFL story I’ve ever seen.
Below, you’ll see the official statement released by Davis, per the NFL’s official Twitter account.

It seems like Davis was getting roasted by the Chargers’ receivers and felt he didn’t belong out there anymore.
With that said, it should be noted that someone replied to the tweet with an old tweet from Vontae Davis that read, “The people who succeed in life are those who don’t QUIT…”
Additionally, Lorenzo Alexander has quite the reaction to his strange retirement.
Buffalo CB Vontae Davis apparently retired at halftime during the Chargers-Bills game Sunday.
"He said he's not coming out. He retired…"

Unfortunately, it won’t get any easier for the Bills next week. In Week 3, Buffalo will go on the road to play the Minnesota Vikings. Let’s hope they don’t get down early, someone might decide it’s time to call it quits.
This was Vontae’s first season in Buffalo. Previously, he had played for the Miami Dolphins and Indianapolis Colts. He made two Pro Bowls with the Colts.
