Carhartt, ’47 Brand Team Up For Duck Material MLB Hats and Snapbacks
When I walked into the Washington Nationals team store at Nationals Park on April 5th, there was one thing that stood out to me right away: Carhartt-branded MLB hats by ’47 Brand. They were one of the most unique things I had ever seen; rugged enough to wear doing yard work but crispy enough to wear with with Levi’s and a three-quarter sleeve. It was love at first sight, and although I was there to see the Mets, I considered buying a khaki-colored Nats cap.
As it turns out, ’47 Brand and Carhartt teamed up to release hats from all MLB teams, not just the Nats. And, they put the famous Carhartt duck material on the three most-popular ’47 Brand styles — the adjustable “Clean-Up”, the snapback “Captain”, and the velcro “MVP”.
While the khaki-colored Carhartt is the most recognizable, they also released the hats in the regular team colors (also in duck fabric).
Initially, I thought this was the first year that the product line, branded as the “OUTWORK x OUTROOT” collection, was available. Yet, upon further review, I was partially incorrect. Last year, for the 2017 MLB season, the two family-run brands teamed up for hats in two cities — Boston and Detroit — with the full, 30-team line coming in time for Opening Day of 2018.
The line of hats is available while supplies last, though, so some teams are already sold out of certain styles.
Personally, the ’47 BRAND “Clean Up” Adjustable Hat is the best baseball hat on the market — Carhartt-inspired or not. They fit great and also have work-or-play flexibility.
