Charles Oakley is a Chef Now…and He’s Got a Show on The Ringer
When I think Charles Oakley, I think street fight. I think black eyes. And, of course, I think basketball. Know what I don’t think? Gourmet chef.
But Oakley is always surprising us. Remember when he had a Tupac-Biggie beef with Knicks owner James Dolan? Wait…that’s probably still cooking, but you get the idea. Oak is everywhere, and now he’s a gourmet chef, and he’s got his own show on Bill Simmons website, The Ringer.
Welcome to Episode 1 of '#ToughChef With @CharlesOakley34.' While preparing salmon for @BillSimmons and @netw3rk, Oak dishes on:
🍽 Filming ‘Space Jam’
🍽 LeBron missing the playoffs
🍽 Kyrie and the #Celtics
🍽 Leadership in the #NBAFull vid: https://t.co/bD9KvuCzCa pic.twitter.com/5v1RN8zE1k

The name of the show, Tough Chef, fits: Oak is a baddd man and I guess he can whip it up in the kitchen now. Nothing like a salmon dinner from a 6-foot-9 dude with salt and pepper (not on the salmon).
The Ringer is always putting out new shows. I’m probably not gonna watch Oak make macaroni for Ringer staffers, even though there is some NBA talk, but some people like cooking shows and Simmons has dialed up several for those kinds of people. I’ll say this, though, if this was a podcast and there was a pair of dope guests on, I’d definitely give it a run. But a show? Can’t swing it.
This got me thinking…is there anyone I’d religiously watch if they had a cooking/food show? The answer is yes…because it’s already happened; bring back F*ck That’s Delicious! Action, slide into Bill’s DMs (or vice versa). It just makes sense.
