Ex-NBA and “Unguarded” Star Chris Herren Now Has Recovery Center in New England
Of all the films ESPN has done, there is one that stands out above the rest. The film, Unguarded, details Chris Herren’s road to addiction recovery and is now shown in nearly every treatment center across the country — it’s that powerful.
Herren, a former NBA player who starred at Fresno State under Jerry Tarkanian, is now almost 10 years sober and travels the world sharing his story with high schools and communities struggling with the opioid epidemic. The speeches are always free to the public. It should be noted that Herren also is regularly tabbed by college and professional coaches for more intimate gatherings with their players.
In addition to his speaking schedule, Herren has started several initiatives to battle addiction (Project Purple, The Herren Project). His latest, though, is truly groundbreaking and destined to change the lives of all involved. Chris Herren and his family, who have dedicated their lives to helping people in need, have opened their very own recovery center.
In March of 2018, the Herren Wellness Group opened the doors to their beautiful facility in Seekonk, MA.
