Did Pusha T’s “Infrared” Diss Cause Drake to Lose Thousands of Twitter Followers?

What a Friday night! While the Cavaliers were getting ready to play Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals, there was a massive rap beef brewing between Drake and Pusha-T/Kanye West. Well, the beef was actually reignited on Friday when Pusha T dropped his Daytona album (with Kanye producing) and dissed Drizzy on the project’s final track — “Infrared”. Drake, always known to clap back, released his response on Friday night, titled “Duppy”.

It’s clear that Pusha T struck a nerve with Drake on “Infrared”. In the song, Push brought Drake’s (confirmed) ghostwriting claims back to the surface. By re-earthing the famous Quentin Miller verses from Drake’s past, Pusha T may have also struck a nerve with his old-school rap fans; or even some new fans that don’t remember the initial claims back in 2016. I say this because Drake’s Twitter following, which normally grows substantially every day, took a monster hit on Friday, May 25h…the day that “Infrared” went mainstream.

Check the stats for Drake’s Twitter account, per Social Blade:

As you can see, it’s uncommon for Drake to lose Twitter followers…like, ever. So it’s awfully coincidental that he has red ink on Friday only. I can sure believe it. After all, ghostwriting is a serious no-no to hardcore hip-hop heads.

On the flip side, Pusha T has seen a huge bump in followers. This isn’t a surprise, though. That’s what happens when you have Kanye tweeting your album and Drake dissing you.

With all that said, both verses were strong. Each guy took the appropriate amount of shots and now, we have a perfect set up for another round of tracks.
