Bruce Willis Makes It Official: ‘Die Hard’ is Not a Christmas Movie
Over the last decade, as more and more people are able to voice their opinions on different media outlets, there’s been a debate rivaling LeBron vs. Jordan. That debate, of course, is whether the famous 1988 film Die Hard is a Christmas movie or not. Among numerous other places, I’ve seen entire segments on the late Mike & Mike radio show on its classification. Now, after Bruce Willis voiced his opinion towards the end of his Comedy Central roast, we have an answer: Die Hard is NOT a Christmas movie.
Ryan Parker of The Hollywood Reporter posted a clip of his statement:

Personally, I’ve always been in the camp that keeps Die Hard out of the same group as Home Alone, Christmas Vacation, Jingle All The Way, and the rest. I mean, c’mon, it’s not really that close. John McClane (played by Willis) doesn’t go Christmas tree shopping in Die Hard and there’s not even anyone bouncing around dressed up as Santa Clause. Those are like, prerequisites to Christmas movies. Just because you find Christmas songs in Die Hard doesn’t mean it can get the honor. Let’s not forget that the first Lethal Weapon has as much (and maybe more) Christmas stuff as Die Hard and no one is trying to force Riggs and Murtaugh into any category.
Finally, though, Willis has set the record straight. The world, Kevin McCallister, Clark Griswold, and everyone else is better because of it.
