Giving Dwayne Haskins His First Start In Buffalo is Risky Business
Let’s get right down to the numbers: the Buffalo Bills are the third-best team against the pass this season, allowing 194.4 yards per game, and overall, they’re ranked third in total yards allowed per game. Scoring-wise, they’re ranked No. 5 in the NFL with 17.4 points allowed per game. Needless to say, this is a really good defense regardless of where they play.
Yet, the Washington Redskins thought it was a good idea to throw their rookie quarterback — who has zero touchdowns and four interceptions in mop-up duty — into the fire against them at their home field.

He may play well, he may not, but strategically, why not wait until next week when they’re at home against the Jets? It makes no sense.
Here’s an example of how some quarterbacks have played at Buffalo this year…Pro Bowl veteran quarterbacks at that.
- Tom Brady: 18-39, 150 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT, 45.9 passer rating
- Andy Dalton: 20-36, 250 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT, 63.4 passer rating
Buffalo is a tough place, there’s no doubt. The fans get wild, they’re into it, and the weather can play a factor at any moment. It’s not Kansas City or Seattle but they’re closer than you think when the team is actually good.
It just seems like (another) misstep by Washington. Let Keenum go up there and play — he’s a vet who’s done it before! Wait until you’re home to let Haskins start. Risky business….
