Escape at Dannemora TV Ratings Growing in Key Demo

Showtime’s “Escape at Dannemora” has established itself with critics and the most valuable demographic has followed.

If you aren’t watching Escape at Dannemora on Sunday nights at 10:00 P.M ET, you are missing out on the best show on TV right now. The Ben Stiller-directed mini-series just aired their fifth episode on Sunday — the best episode to date, in my opinion — with two more to come over the next few weeks.

To date, millions of people aren’t tuning in to watch the prison escape drama, but that’s par for the course with Showtime; you have to be a subscriber to watch. Had Escape at Dannemora been on AMC or NBC, they’d certainly be getting more than 500,000 viewers per episode. Yet, what they lack in overall numbers, they’re making up in critical acclaim and demographics.

Escape at Dannemora currently holds a 90-percent aggregate rating on Rotten Tomatoes and is up for a Golden Globe in the ‘Best Limited TV Series or Motion Picture Made for Television’ category. Patricia Arquette, who delivers a powerhouse performance as Joyce “Tilly” Mitchell, was also nominated in the ‘Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television’ category.

And as the word spreads on how good the show is, more eyeballs are tuning in from the most important age group (18-to-49). Through the first four episodes (numbers for episode No. 5 aren’t available yet), the 18-to-49 demo has increased each week, according to TV Series Finale. Overall, the 18-to-49 group has nearly tripled their TV rating since the premiere — up to 0.12 in Week 4 from 0.05 in Week 1.

All episodes that have already aired are available to Showtime subscribers. Catch up on the show now if you haven’t been following!
