ESPN Website Accidentally Lists Trayce Thompson as Klay Thompson (Photo)

On Friday night, I was scrolling through the Oakland Athletics team page on ESPN and noticed what looked like a picture of Klay Thompson in a baseball uniform. Then I realized it was likely his brother Trayce, although I didn’t know he was playing with the A’s. Yet, when I read the lead below, it said it was Klay Thompson. I thought I was going crazy. After all, it did look like Klay…I thought it may have been a spoof or something.

Upon further review, it was Trayce — ESPN just messed up. They must have seen that face and automatically thought Klay. I guess you can’t really blame them.

The actual headline was signaling Oakland’s sale of Trayce to the Chicago White Sox — the team he initially broke into the bigs with. Back in 2015, he hit .295 in 122 at-bats with the South Siders but hasn’t performed that well since. From 2016 until now, Trayce has hit just .205 (60 for 293). He did, however, smack 13 home runs in 2016 with the Dodgers.

In his first game reunited with his old team, he went 0-1.
