Former Oriole Joey Rickard Starts Hot With Triple-A Sacramento
Needing a starter, the Orioles DFA’d longtime outfielder Joey Rickard on June 17th. The move was another step by the new regime to overhaul their inherited roster, ending Rickard’s four-year stint in the O’s organization. As an Oriole, Rickard played 317 games with the big club between 2016-19, collecting 208 hits and 19 home runs.
Rickard didn’t stay jobless for long, however, as the San Francisco Giants claimed him off waivers and assigned him to their Triple-A affiliate, the Sacramento River Cats.
Since arriving out West, the Nevada native has been productive. In three games, Rickard’s gone 5-for-12 with two doubles and a home run.
River Cats add a solo blast from newcomer Joey Rickard in the 5th, but the Aviators come right back with two of their own. It's 5-10 after five.
Pena, Garcia, and Ramos coming up in the sixth. Rally time! #ClawsUp

With tons of MLB experience, Rickard could be a candidate to get called up by the Giants before the end of 2019. After all, their offense is one of the worst in baseball, hitting just .224 as a team, and they wouldn’t have claimed him if they didn’t want to see what he could do.
Before getting DFA’d, Rickard was playing for Baltimore’s Triple-A team, the Norfolk Tides.
