Former UVA WR Dontrelle Inman Catches TD in Playoff Win

Former Virginia football star Dontrelle Inman caught four passes in the Colts 21-7 win over the Texans — highlighted by an 18-yard touchdown reception.

Dontrelle Inman has had a long road since his Virginia football career ended in 2010. Initially, he couldn’t crack an NFL roster and wound up in the CFL until 2013 with Toronto. After that, he crisscrossed all over the NFL landscape, complete with some good seasons and some disappointing campaigns. At the start of this season, though, he was without a team.

Then, after the Indianapolis Colts had already played a handful of games, they took a shot on him and he’s made the best of his chance. Inman was a vital part of Indy’s push to the postseason, catching touchdowns in Week 16 and Week 17 — both must-win games for the Colts. In total, he caught 28 passes in what amounted to a half-season.

On Saturday, the Colts and Texans played the first postseason game of the year in Houston. Inman, now one of Andrew Luck‘s favorite targets, continued where he left off with four catches (on four targets), 53 yards and a touchdown in Indy’s 21-7 win over Houston in the Wild Card round.

Inman’s touchdown came with the Colts up 14-0, snagging a Luck pass from 18 yards out to put the team up 21-0 and essentially ice the game.

From here on out, you can be sure to hear Inman’s name more and more as he continues to impress football fans. Not only will he definitely be on a roster to start next season, but he’ll also be a receiver that’s sought after and respected.

As a senior at Virginia, Inman had a breakout season with career-highs in receptions (51), receiving yards (815), and his only three collegiate touchdown catches.
