George Mason Basketball Will Be All Over National TV This Year
The George Mason basketball program will be all over television this year thanks to ESPN+.
Since moving to Northern Virginia, I’ve been super disappointed with the lack of George Mason coverage. I assumed folks would be in love with their men’s basketball program but they don’t even have a newspaper (outside of the student paper) covering them regularly. To add to that, it was incredibly hard to watch them on television. Sure, NBC Sports Network had a few games here and there but I wanted to watch every game on my TV — not on my computer.
It should be noted that there are a few solid blogs dedicated to Mason hoops!
This year, that all changed thanks to the multi-year media rights deal that ESPN signed with the Atlantic-10 Conference.
What does that mean exactly? Well, if you just take one look at George Mason’s schedule this year, you’ll see. Almost all their games will be available on national television this year — primarily through ESPN’s new monthly service ESPN+.
According to George Mason’s official website, those who subscribe to ESPN+ will be able to watch 15 regular season GMU games — the most of any network. On top of those, NBCSN and Stadium will have four each, and CBS Sports Network will have three. MASN, a local channel that broadcasts Orioles and Nationals MLB games, will air three regular season games. As for the Atlantic-10 Tournament, the games are split between ESPN+, NBCSN, CBSSN, and CBS.

Only three games, per GMU’s official site, have no network associated with them.
To start the season, ESPN+ will have the first five George Mason men’s basketball games — including their opener against Penn on November 6th.
