George Mason Homecoming Game Starts With a Bang

FAIRFAX, Va — Homecoming is officially here at George Mason, and the men’s basketball program is obviously energized by all the festivities. Against A-10 rival Duquesne, the Patriots jumped out to a 17-2 lead, using great defense and stellar shooting to get there.

Mason led by as many as 19 points in the first half but as it got closer to halftime, they allowed the Dukes to come back a bit. GMU currently leads 42-34 with the second half about to kick off.

Before going into the locker room, George Mason head coach Dave Paulsen said he was “thrilled with the start but disappointed with the end,” noting that his team was “sloppy with the ball” after they built such a big lead.

Both Javon Greene and Otis Livingston II have 13 points going into halftime, while Justin Kier has nine of his own. As usual, freshman Jordan Miller and Virginia transfer Jarred Reuter have done a nice job keeping plays alive on offense, combining for eight offensive boards in the first 20 minutes of action.

On defense, the Patriots have held the Dukes to just 35.7-percent shooting.
