George Mason: Touching Justin Kier Story Featured on ABC7
On Monday night, George Mason leading scorer Justin Kier had a touching story from his childhood featured on Washington, D.C.’s ABC affiliate, WJLA/ABC7.
ABC7 Reporter Robert Burton came to George Mason’s practice facility to interview Kier and the result was special. Kier told the story of an accident he was in as a seven-year-old that left his mother unable to “walk, see or speak.”
@MasonMBB Junior Justin Kier is playing for more than just an A-10 championship. "I'm living for two…I'm living for me and her." His incredible story of overcoming a very traumatic experience at a young age. πͺπΎπͺπΎππΎππΎ@ABC7News @ABC7Sports pic.twitter.com/9NkH4q3su6

Per the story, Kier’s grandmother stepped up to raise him after the accident.
Kier, who led the team in scoring (13.9 PPG) and steals (1.6 SPG) this year, has a great chance of making one of the All-Atlantic-10 Teams when they’re announced.
George Mason will now play in the Atlantic 10 Tournament this week as the No. 5 seed. They’ll play the winner of George Washington-UMass on Thursday at 2:30 P.M ET.
Back in the studio after the piece aired, one of the anchors noted how nice and level-headed Kier appeared. After covering him and his team all year, I’d have to say that he was dead-on in his assessment.
