“Hard Knocks” Star Corey Coleman Joins Fourth Team Since Camp
The New York Giants signed “Hard Knocks” star Corey Coleman to their practice squad.
After winning the Biletnikoff Award at Baylor, Corey Coleman was picked in the first round by the Cleveland Browns in 2016. From there, he started off like you’d hope your first-round pick would: Coleman caught five balls for over 100 yards and two touchdowns in his second NFL game. Everything seemed great until he broke his hand a few days later in practice. Since then, it’s all gone downhill.
He hasn’t had a 100-yard game since and found himself buried on Cleveland’s depth chart to start 2018. In a scene featured on HBO’s Hard Knocks, he asked for a trade and the front office obliged. Buffalo gave Cleveland a draft pick in exchange for Coleman but he was cut before the season started. New England was his next stop but he only suited up for one game before he was given another pink slip. Ironically, Josh Gordon — another Baylor product drafted by Cleveland — played a big part in his exit. Now, after spending time in three locker rooms this year, he’s found himself on the New York Giants’ practice squad.
Already labeled a bust (and “easily distracted” by Browns OC Todd Haley), Coleman has a chance to resurrect his career if he can get the magic back. New York has injury issues at the wide receiver position so there’s definitely a legitimate chance he sees the field.
