Jemele Hill, Van Lathan Launching ‘The Wire’ Podcast on The Ringer
Every summer I take the hour drive from Fairfax, VA to Baltimore, MD a few times a month to enjoy everything the Inner Harbor has to offer (or Camden Yards & Phillip’s). That likely won’t happen this summer, and anyone else who planned on spending time in Baltimore is in the same boat. There’s a minor consolation coming from the podosphere, however.
Jemele Hill and Van Lathan are going to transport people to Baltimore (a different part…but still Baltimore) a few times a week by way of a podcast. Starting on April 15th, the pair will launch Way Down in the Hole, a show dedicated to HBO’s The Wire.
During its five-season run, the David Simon-created drama ripped off 60 episodes, and the Hill-Lathan combo will rewatch them in order for the podcast (part of The Ringer Podcast Network). Each podcast episode is dedicated to an episode of the show, with the hosts providing all the important information you need (remember, all the pieces matter). One of the highlights, for sure, is going to be the Stringer Bell Fuck Boy Award, which will be handed out each episode like the Dion Waiters Award during episodes of The Rewatchables, another popular rewatch pod on The Ringer.
New episodes of Way Down in the Hole — a nod to the show’s theme — will drop on Tuesdays and Thursdays, per The Ringer.
