Kevin Malone is Owning the Minor League Baseball Circuit
Starring in a legendary film or television series has obvious perks. Not only are you getting paid for the project and gaining fame, but then there are future earnings out there for the taking based on the project (in addition to residuals). Chauncey Leopardi (or Squintz from The Sandlot) has mastered such a task, appearing every baseball season at minor league parks that celebrate the movie. He’s good at it, obviously, and a pleasure to be around, so teams continue to ask him back. Another famous character now making the rounds is Brian Baumgartner (or Kevin from The Office). Like Leopardi, Baumgartner is just an awesome dude. Having him come to your park to ring in a tribute to The Office has no downside for the team, and in the actor’s case, I’m sure it pays well for one night of work.
Baumgartner has hit several minor league parks this year, throwing out first pitches and mingling with fanatics of the show. Most recently, he appeared at Huntington Park, home of the Columbus Clippers, for their “The Office Night.”
