Looking at the White Sox (’08) & Padres (’06) Most Recent Playoff Lineups
The Chicago White Sox and San Diego Padres have both surpassed their projected win totals for the season and have a spot in the 2020 postseason locked up. It’s been ages since either team has been in the mix but they’ve certainly earned their bones this year and they’re two teams that are hard not to root for. With so many young stars on both sides, they’ve also incredibly easy to simply watch.
For the White Sox, their last postseason appearance was in 2008, falling in the ALDS to Tampa Bay in four games. The Padres’ last playoff series was even further back. In 2006, San Diego got into the playoffs but they were dispatched in the same fashion as Chicago by eventual champ St. Louis.
It’s fun to look back and see names you’ve forgotten about, so I wanted to check on who was representing each squad during their most recent playoff game. It was a pleasant task; some HOFers popped up, a current manager, guys with kids in the bigs, plus some all-stars I haven’t thought of in years and a White Sox pitcher who’s actually in the team’s 60-man player pool right now. Pretty soon, both club’s most recent playoff game will be played by the current rosters so now is the time to go mess around in the way-back machine. Check them out!
