Loyola Chicago is the Alma Mater of Two Legendary NBC Character Actors
The NCAA Tournament returns tonight with four of the eight Sweet Sixteen games. The first game (7:07 P.M ET) will feature No. 11 Loyola-Chicago, a program that’s largely considered as the one true Cinderella team still remaining. With that said, Loyola Chicago is a big-time school in the Midwest, one that has an impressive group of alumni and is ranked as the fifth-best university in Illinois by U.S News.
On the list of prestigious Loyola-Chicago alumni, you’ll find some of the biggest names in the business world; Lori Greiner, known for her appearances as an investor on Shark Tank, is a Rambler alum, as well as a pair of NFL owners, John York (49ers) and George Halas Jr. (Bears). From there, the list goes on and on, right up until you find two guys who have etched their names into my comedy television Mount Rushmore — Leslie David Baker, and Jim O’Heir.
If you don’t recognize those two names, maybe it’ll help if I identify them by the legendary characters they played: Stanley Hudson from The Office (Leslie David Baker), and Jerry Gergich from Parks and Recreation (Jim O’Heir).
Both guys have a long list of credits on their resume but these two roles have absolutely defined their respective careers. O’Heir appeared in 122 episodes of Parks and Recreation — missing just three — while David Baker performed in all 201 episodes of The Office.
Combined, the two Greg Daniels-led NBC comedies were nominated for over 50 Primetime Emmy Awards.
One thing is for certain, Stanley and Jerry will be pulling for the Ramblers to beat No. 7 Nevada tonight. The game can be seen on CBS, with Nevada entering the game as 1.5-point favorites.
