The Mac Miller Reddit Forum is a Safe Haven For Grieving Fans

If you’ve followed Slackie Brown since the tragic passing of Mac Miller, you know that we really cherished Mac as an artist and human being. Personally, I’ve done several Mac Miller related posts, including a podcast dedicated to the late Pittsburgh rapper. And when I’m not writing about Mac, I’ve either been thinking about him, listening to his music, or trying to find out more about his passing. Googling him, unfortunately, results in a lot of Ariana Grande mumbo jumbo. Instead, I’ve found a safe haven on the Mac Miller Reddit forum.

Thousands of grieving fans (or MacHeads) have done the same, resulting in a truly remarkable gathering place. These days, the internet can be a nasty place full of trolls and people with bad intentions; this forum, however, is the exact opposite. The people are nice, caring, and accepting of those who post their emotions for the world to see. It’s safe, and I wish the internet had more places like it. I haven’t posted anything, just a few comments here and there, but that’s not the point. The point is that it’s a place I can go where others are feeling the same way that I am; it’s legitimately comforting.

If you did a quick dive into the thread, you’ll see what I mean.

Countless mourners have posted the tattoos they’ve paid for in Mac’s honor, deep cuts from Mac Miller’s catalog they hope will help others, and new information about the entire messed up situation. While Google has it all wrong, at least to me, the Mac Miller Reddit thread has gotten it right — and I’m proud to be a part of it.

Note: My first post in the thread will be about this article because I know I’m not alone.
