Maryland Football Shooting For Bowl Eligibility vs. MSU
The Maryland football program (5-3) can become bowl eligible with a win on Saturday.
While the Maryland football program’s season has been under a cloud all season, they do have a chance to become bowl eligible this week if they can beat Michigan State at home. The game will be on national television at 12 P.M ET on ESPN2.
As I write this, the mood around the team is a strange one. Head coach DJ Durkin was reinstated today and it’s been reported by ESPN that some players walked out of the press conference. Will they show up and compete for a coach that’s caused so much controversy? Or, perhaps, will they be thinking of their fallen teammate Jordan McNair and not be ready to play? It’s hard to say which way things will go but I look forward to a day when players are treated fairly and coaches cherish the position they’ve been put into.
According to ESPN, McNair’s family was “outraged” at UMd’s decision to reinstate Durkin.
Maryland is fresh off a 63-33 shootout win over Illinois.

Last year, they lost to the Spartans 17-7 in East Lansing, MI. The year before, they beat Michigan State 28-17 at home. It should be noted that they did not appear in a bowl game last year but did play in the Quick Lane Bowl in 2016 (a 36-30 loss to Boston College).
