Matt Adams Hits Walk-Off in 1st Game With Braves
Matt Adams latched on with Atlanta on Monday after opting out of his deal with NL East rival New York. One day later, he was starting at DH and batting fifth for the Braves, then delivered his new team a win by hitting a walk-off in the bottom of the ninth. Miami had been blowing out Atlanta 8-1 in the exhibition before the Braves put together a monster comeback.

This is Adams’ second go-around with Atlanta. In 2017, he had an impressive 100-game stint in the A, hitting .271 with 19 homers and a .858 OPS. Last season, he picked up a World Series ring with the Nats, though he played sparingly during their postseason run.

Adams was just 2-for-14 with New York before opting out of his minor league deal. Moving forward, it’s possible the Braves keep Adams around on their Opening Day roster as Freddie Freeman‘s backup and a pinch-hitter vs. right-handed pitching.
Atlanta opens the season with a three-game series against the Mets.
