Matthew McConaughey Still Loves the Longhorns
On Saturday, the basketball version of the Red River Rivalry went down in Texas at the Frank Erwin Center. And while the game was entertaining — the Texas Longhorns beat No. 20 Oklahoma 75-72 — the most interesting moment came when Mr. Longhorn himself, Matthew McConaughey, was spotlighted by the ESPN cameras.
Not only was Matthew McConaughey draped head to toe in a burnt orange suit, but the True Detective actor was practically acting as an assistant coach. ESPN cameras caught Matthew McConaughey joining the team’s huddle, then followed him to his chair adjacent to the Longhorns’ bench. Dude loves his Longhorns, and they obviously love him back.

Matthew McConaughey attended the University of Texas back in the day and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 1993. Besides that and his frequent appearances at Texas sporting events, he’s also taught film classes at UT in recent years.
