May 26th — Laura Dern, Common Star in Powerful HBO Films Drama ‘The Tale’ (Trailer)
HBO Films has been hard at work over the last few years, producing several critically-successful movies. Whether it’s a powerful documentary like Rolling Stone: Stories From the Edge or compelling biopics like Paterno and Wizard of Lies, the 45-year-old network is still the gold-standard for premium content. On May 26th, they’ll be back at it again with The Tale — a film that looks fantastic and extremely relevant for the world we live in.
“The Tale is undeniably primed for the #MeToo movement, but it’s also so much bigger than that.” -Indiewire
The Tale stars Laura Dern, Jason Ritter, Common, and Ellen Burstyn, and is directed by Jennifer Fox. It premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival with HBO picking up the distribution thereafter.
Per HBO’s official website:
Jennifer Fox (Laura Dern) faces a host of life-altering questions after a short story from her middle school days forces her to re-examine her first sexual relationship and the stories we tell ourselves in order to survive.
The story is based on director Jennifer Fox’s own life experience.
Laura Dern won a Primetime Emmy Award (Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie) for her work in HBO’s wildly-successful Big Little Lies TV series. The show is currently in production of its second season with the entire cast returning — plus Meryl Streep. Per Town & Country, filming began on March 16th.
