MLB Star Justin Bour Will Be At George Mason Basketball Opener

MLB star Justin Bour will be at the George Mason basketball program’s home opener against Penn.

Fresh off a season that saw him experience his first MLB trade, Justin Bour is back home in Northern Virginia for the first George Mason basketball game. Earlier today, Bour announced on Twitter that he was back in the area then urged folks to come out to see Mason host Penn (Tuesday, November 6).

Head coach Dave Paulsen was happy about the news…

Bour played his college ball at Mason before getting drafted in the 25th round of the 2009 MLB June Amateur Draft. During his time at GMU, he tore it up for the Patriots with 46 career home runs and a career .347 batting average.

By 2014, he was in the big leagues with the Miami Marlins and stayed there for over four years. This year, unfortunately, was his worst season as a pro but Philadelphia believed in him regardless. He was traded to the Phillies this past August to help them in their late-season pennant race. Combined, he finished the 2018 season with 20 home runs and a batting average of .227.
