Brian Dozier Set to Make His Return to Nats Park With Rival Mets
Brian Dozier racked up 20 home runs last season as a member of the Washington Nationals. From there, he went on to appear in their Wild Card game against Milwaukee, NLDS vs. the Dodgers, NLCS vs. St. Louis and World Series against Houston.
Though he didn’t record a hit throughout the entire postseason, he was a valuable part of the team that eventually won the whole damn thing — remember this? — and reached base in his only World Series plate appearance. After the parade, he was granted free agency, leading to a deal with San Diego. That didn’t work out well. The Padres released him, leading to some public blasting of the organization by Dozier once the Mets brought him in. Initially, he wasn’t with the big club in New York either, but after a few games they pulled the trigger because he does so well against left-handed pitching.
All that brings us to tonight when the Nats and Mets meet for the first series of the 2020 season. Already, the Nats have acknowledged Dozier’s return.
