Netflix Launches “ReMastered” Docuseries With Bob Marley Shooting
Netflix recently launched their “ReMastered” docuseries with an episode about Bob Marley and his near assassination.
A few weeks ago, I was told the story of Bob Marley’s assassination attempt by the wonderful Disgraceland podcast. It was a story I wasn’t aware of, but one that was as compelling as they come. Ironically, on Friday, October 12th, Netflix launched their new music docuseries ReMastered with that exact story.
The Netflix series, like Disgraceland, will tell in-depth stories about musicians in a documentary format. The Bob Marley episode, titled “Who Shot The Sheriff,” runs for nearly 60 minutes which leads me to believe each episode will have a similar length. Per Pitchfork, other subjects include Johnny Cash, Sam Cooke, Jam Master Jay of Run DMC, and Robert Johnson.
Kief Davidson did a great job directing the Bob Marley episode, and according to Pitchfork, there are other talented directors on board. Among them are Barbara Kopple, Sara Dosa, Brian Oakes, Stuart Sender, B.J. Perlmutt, Kelly Duane de la Vega, and Sam Cullman.
Though there’s been some drama surrounding the series, quality investigative journalism and Netflix are always a great match. Definitely check out ReMastered and keep your eyes peeled for the second season of Making a Murderer later this month.
If you can’t get to a television set and love music history, I highly recommend the Disgraceland episode on Bob Marley. Check it out below:
