NFL Draft Coverage on ABC Features Musical Acts, Backstories
ABC will have their own broadcast of the NFL Draft for the first time in 2019.
Over the last decade, the NFL Draft has become a juggernaut for ESPN. Fans love the event and the network milks as much content as possible from it. Now, another Walt Disney-owned company is getting in on the action as ABC will broadcast the 2019 NFL Draft for the first time in their history.
According to the report from NFL.com:
“ABC will be the exclusive broadcast home of the event and will produce its own distinct telecast for the ABC audience, separate from ESPN and NFL Network, during the first two nights of coverage. For the second straight year, ABC will simulcast ESPN’s presentation on Day 3.”
And before you go thinking the new coverage will be more of the same, the report noted that ABC’s coverage will be taking a different approach to things. Instead of the standard X’s-and-O’s broadcast, the ABC version will “have an added focus on the personalities and backstories of the draft picks and the overall spectacle of the draft, including live musical acts.”
2019 NFL Draft Schedule:
Round 1: Thurs, April 25th, 8:00 PM ET — ABC, ESPN, NFL Network and ESPN Deportes
Rounds 2-3: Fri, April 26th, 7:00 PM ET — ABC, ESPN/ESPN2, NFL Network and ESPN Deportes
Rounds 4-7: Sat, April 27th, 2:00 PM ET — ABC, ESPN, NFL Network and ESPN Deportes
All seven rounds of the draft will be on ABC, ESPN, and NFL Network. Additionally, there will be radio broadcasts on ESPN Radio and ESPN Deportes.
