No Shortage of Importance For George Mason Senior Night

George Mason will have their senior night tonight against VCU at Eagle Bank Arena (7:30 P.M ET, MASN/Stadium).

Tonight, fans and supporters of the George Mason basketball team will file into Eagle Bank Arena for the program’s senior night. Everyone involved will be in their feels, surely, as Otis Livingston II — one of the most decorated players to ever wear the GMU uniform — and the remaining seniors prepare for their Fairfax, VA swan song.

After the ceremony, however, the team has business to take care of. Rival VCU, the class of the A-10 and No. 1 seed going away, is in town on Tuesday night and Mason desperately needs the win. Currently the No. 6 seed, a victory will be the first step in potentially snagging a double-bye to start the A-10 Tournament (given to the top-four seeds).

Not only are they fighting for seeding in the A-10 Tournament but they just need some confidence at this point. They’ve dropped three of their last four games — some in brutal fashion — and have a 1-7 record this year against KenPom Top-100 opponents. A win over a legit team could make everyone forget their recent rough patch. VCU, who beat Mason by 16 in early February, currently ranks No. 42 via KenPom and enters Tuesday’s game as a five-point road favorite.

Mason’s only Top-100 win came at No. 61 Dayton on January 23rd. Beating VCU would be their best victory of the 2018-19 season.

Tip-off is slated for 7:30 P.M ET tonight. MASN and Stadium will be broadcasting the game.
