Pat McAfee to Make NXT Return at TakeOver Chicago in June
When former Colts punter and current Barstool Sports personality Pat McAfee performed as an analyst in the NXT Pre-Show to TakeOver New Orleans on Wrestlemania weekend, it was a perfect match.
Pat McAfee provided an alternative gear to the normal panel of former wrestlers, wrestling journalists, and announcing robots created by Vince McMahon himself.
He displayed the youthful exuberance and excitement of someone who was truly living out a dream.
Here are the highlights from his performance:
Pat McAfee was simply electric, riveting the WWE Universe more and more with each passing moment
Perhaps more importantly, however, it was the first pairing between WWE and Barstool Sports.
Dave Portnoy (founder of Barstool Sports) has always viewed himself as the sports media’s Vince McMahon, so it feels like a match made in heaven that one of his key employees was hired on by one of the company he admires most.
For Pat McAfee, it was a dream come true.
On Monday, he was given an opportunity to relive his dream once more when he signed another WWE contract for the upcoming NXT TakeOver.
He’ll return to the commentary booth on June 16 in Chicago to hype up the next big NXT show.
People have been curious as to whether or not he would return, so it is nice to have a little clarity on that matter.
Besides, Pat McAfee has a little unfinished business with North American Champion Adam Cole, so he had to return.
With an ongoing feud with a charismatic heel (who he could technically wrestle) and rave reviews for his work in the pre-show, look for a whole lot more of Pat McAfee in the WWE in the future.
