Pats Trade For Another Former Rutgers Football Star, Mohamed Sanu
The New England Patriots love having players on their roster from Rutgers. They just pulled off a trade with the Atlanta Falcons for Mohamed Sanu, the career receptions leader at Rutgers (210), and even before the trade they were the team employing the most players from RU (Jason McCourty, Devin McCourty, Duron Harmon).
With Josh Gordon missing Week 7, Sanu fills a massive hole at wide receiver for New England. Sanu has 33 receptions this season for 313 yards and a touchdown. For his career, split between Cincinnati and Atlanta, Sanu has 377 receptions for 4,300 yards and 25 touchdowns.
Sanu also holds the Big East record for receptions in one season (115).
Bringing in Sanu also brings to mind a move New England made late in 2017, which featured another Rutgers football legend, Kenny Britt. Like their current situation, the Pats needed to shore up the wide receiver position and signed Britt to a two-year deal after he forced his way out of Cleveland.
Britt only caught two balls in his Patriots’ career.
Both Britt and Sanu were a part of Rutgers football during their Big East years.
