Phillies Rafael Marchan Hits First HR at Any Level of Pro Ball
This is a really cool story that’s going to fly under the radar. Phillies catcher Rafael Marchan hit a three-run homer on Friday in Game 2 of their doubleheader against Toronto. Not only was it his first-ever MLB home run, it was also hit first-ever home run at any level of professional baseball. Marchan played 210 games in the minors but never went yard!

It’s also unique that the 21-year-old Marchan went right from A-ball to the big leagues. With this shortened season it’s happened a lot more frequently than usual but it’s still interesting every time it happens. Even the best of the best in previous seasons play some at either Double-A or Triple-A before making their MLB debuts.
Friday was only Marchan’s second MLB game. The homer tied the game 5-5 but Toronto has since regained the lead.
Philadelphia won the first game of the doubleheader by a 7-0 score. Philadelphia is hanging on to the final spot in the NL postseason race.
