Potential Landing Spots For Joe Flacco
Joe Flacco‘s run in the Rocky Mountains is over after just one season. Per Adam Schefter, the longtime Ravens quarterback was waived because of “a failed physical designation.” I suppose that means he failed a physical. Nevertheless, Flacco is on the market now and there are a few teams that could find some use from the former Super Bowl MVP. If not to compete for the QB1 spot, then to bring some experience to the quarterback room.
New England Patriots: Brady is gone and Flacco played the bulk of his career in cold weather. It could work. At this stage, Flacco and Brady are pretty comparable.
New York Jets: Flacco would be a good mentor for Sam Darnold and the current Jets GM worked with the Ravens for over a decade.
Philadelphia Eagles: With oft-injured Carson Wentz leading the squad, it makes sense for the Eagles to bring in someone who knows what they’re doing as his back-up. Flacco grew up near Philly. Local boy comes home and wins a few games late in the year?
Denver is going to roll with Drew Lock in the upcoming season, with newly-signed Jeff Driskel backing him up. Flacco joins a pretty solid QB market, but Schefter said, “someone’s going to give Joe Flacco a chance.”
Jameis Winston is also up for grabs and Andy Dalton could be a prize for a QB-needy team. Perhaps the biggest get will be Cam Newton, though. Carolina just signed Teddy Bridgewater to a $60 million deal so his time down in Charlotte appears to be over.
Newton and Dalton need to be traded, while Winston and Flacco can sign with whoever wants them.
