Rajon Rondo Still Doesn’t Get Respect From Three…and He’s Making ‘Em Pay For It
Rajon Rondo can shoot the three-pointer now. Luckily for him, the rest of the NBA hasn’t realized it yet.
Carmelo Anthony is a legendary scorer. Yet even as he’s getting older, he’s still considered a threat from the outside. Same with Jamal Crawford. Eric Gordon was in the three-point contest two years in a row (even winning it in 2017). Draymond Green? Jae Crowder? Both considered three-and-D guys.
Where am I going with this? Well, these are all players with lower three-point percentages than Rajon Rondo this year (35.1 percent).
Still, my man Rondo gets no love from deep.
Look at tonight for example.
Man, this ain't 2010. Rondo can stroke from deep. #Ratchet #Pelicans #NBA pic.twitter.com/4YA4XSXm9z

This was the second time in the FIRST FIVE minutes that the lazy-bum ass Clippers just let him shoot from three without throwing someone at him.
So what does Rondo do? Sticks it all up in their Kool-Aid.
I’ve talked about it before, the whole Rondo-from-three sitch. But when you see teams just let him shoot, it’s crrrrazy. At one point in time, yeah, he struggled from deep. In his time with the Celtics, he made just 25 percent of his threes, amassing just 109 in 527 games. However, since he left for Dallas, Sacramento, Chicago, and now, New Orleans, he’s improved soooo much from beyond the arc.
Rajon Rondo Three-Point Numbers Since Leaving Boston:
- Dallas (19-54, 35.2%)
- Sacramento (62-170, 36.5%)
- Chicago (50-133, 37.6%)
- New Orleans (40-114, 35.1%)
All four stops have produced percentages higher than any year in Boston (his best being 31.3 percent in 2008-09). Plus, he’s shooting a ton more now. In his 235 games away from Beantown, he’s made 171 of them jammies (not counting tonight). That’s 62 more, in almost 300 games less. And he’s doing it at 36.3 percent overall.
We’ve already had success with one campaign this week to right a wrong, maybe we can play a role in getting Rondo some respect from deep. #RondoCANshoot
