Rapper Jon James Tragically Killed Filming Music Video on Airplane

Canadian rapper Jon James, 34, was killed while filming an airplane stunt for an upcoming music video.

In a bit of unfortunate news, Canadian rapper Jon James, 34, was killed while filming a stunt for an upcoming music video this past weekend. James, who recently released a song with Riff Raff titled “The Man,” fell from the wing of a Cessna airplane and was not able to release his parachute before landing in a hay field in British Columbia.

James was rapping on the wing of the plane while being filmed but the aircraft suddenly went spiraling down.

His management team released a statement, per Daily Mail, which provides more details on the tragic event.

‘His final act included performing an airplane stunt that included rapping while walking on the wing. He had trained intensely for this stunt; however, as Jon got further out onto the wing of the plane, it caused the small Cessna to go into a downward spiral that the pilot couldn’t correct,’ a statement from his team said.

‘Jon held onto the wing until it was too late, and by the time he let go, he didn’t have time to pull his chute. He impacted and died instantly.’

The pilot was able to regain control of the plane, managing to land safely shortly after James fell.

This is incredibly unfortunate for an artist who was just getting his career going. I mean, having a song with Riff Raff — regardless of how you feel about him — is a pretty big deal. On his SoundCloud page, his remix of the Post Malone-21 Savage hit “Rockstar” has over 49,000 plays and several others are over 10,000. Additionally, Jon James official Instagram account grew to almost 16,000 followers and sadly, his feed has a video of him preparing for the airplane stunt (below).

To honor of another artist gone too soon, head over to his Spotify page and spin some tunes.
