Redskins Derrius Guice Notches First 100-Yard Rushing Game in Week 13
It’s sort of funny to say, but the Washington Redskins are the hottest NFC East team right now. They beat Detroit last week and followed it up with a victory on the road against a good Carolina team. Meanwhile, the Eagles are on a three-game winning streak, and the Cowboys have lost three of their last four.
Carrying the load for Washington was Derrius Guice, a second-year running back playing in his fourth career NFL game, and veteran Adrian Peterson. The pair combined for 228 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

Guice notched the first 100-yard game of his short career, busting out 129 yards on just 10 carries. Considering two of his runs were one-yard touchdowns, it’s clear the LSU product was gaining big chunks on his other eight carries. In fact, his first rushing attempt went for 60 yards (below) and his tough 37-yard run in the fourth quarter set up his second touchdown of the day.

Guice also had two receptions for eight yards.
As for Peterson, he nearly put up a 100-yard game, going for 99 yards on 13 carries and a touchdown.

The 129-yard performance for Guice accounted for more yards than he had in his career entering the game (74 yards). Guice missed all of last season with an injury, as well as most of 2019.
Entering Week 13, Carolina ranked 27th in rushing defense with 127.5 rushing yards allowed per game.
Per NFL Research, Guice is “only the 5th RB with 125+ rush yards, 2+ rush TD and 10 or fewer carries in a game since at least 1948.”
At quarterback, Dwayne Haskins got his second straight win as the starter, though he mostly just managed the game. They didn’t ask him to do a lot (25 pass attempts) and he didn’t push the ball down the field a ton (5.9 yards per attempt). Nevertheless, the win was big for the Skins and their fanbase is feeling better after back-to-back wins.
