Renato Nunez Dons Golden Sombrero For O’s

The Orioles lost to the Twins 4-1 on Sunday, their third loss in as many days against Minnesota. Sunday’s game was their final meeting of the season, with Baltimore finishing the season series 0-6.

All the damage on Sunday came against Baltimore starting pitcher Dylan Bundy, who had his record fall to 0-4 on the year despite striking out eight batters. After Bundy, the bullpen was able to keep Minnesota off the board, thanks to scoreless innings from Brandon Kline, Evan Phillips, and Miguel Castro.

The offense struggled again, recording only four hits in 31 at-bats. Chris Davis hit a solo homer in the seventh inning which was the O’s lone run. For the series, the O’s managed only four runs.

Though a pleasant surprise to start the season, Renato Nunez had a tough time in the batter’s box on Sunday, striking out four times to earn his first-ever golden sombrero. Overall, the O’s struck out nine times.

Ironically, the other DMV pro team had a guy record a golden sombrero on Sunday, as Michael A. Taylor went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts for the Nationals. Washington won, however, beating the Padres 7-6 in extra innings.

Baltimore (10-19) will stay at home for a three-game set against the White Sox starting Monday at 8:10 P.M ET.
