Richard Sherman Calls Out Redskins For Shunning Colin Kaepernick

San Francisco 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman called out the Redskins for not signing Colin Kaepernick.

Of all the teams in the NFL, there haven’t been any with quarterback issues like the Washington Redskins. They’ve needed to sign two free agent quarterbacks in the last few weeks, yet neither has been former Pro Bowler Colin Kaepernick. The Redskins, who opted for Mark Sanchez and Josh Johnson, didn’t even bother giving Kaepernick a shot.

While Sanchez, in my opinion, is deserving, you can’t justify Josh Johnson over Colin Kaepernick — it’s not even close. Richard Sherman, who has history with Kaep, is on the same page. In a recent interview with Tiki & Tierney on CBS Sports Radio, he let his feelings known:
“Obviously the Washington situation is the most egregious at this moment, but there have been plenty of quarterback situations that have been worse than this, and quarterbacks that have played meaningful football in this league that are not as talented or have the resume that Colin Kaepernick has. The most frustrating thing is there’s nothing that anybody can do about it. The NFL is obviously belligerently freezing him out.” Richard Sherman on “Tiki & Tierney”
Kaepernick hasn’t played since 2016 but in 58 career starts, he has an 88.9 quarterback rating. In 2016, it should be noted, he posted a quarterback rating over 90, and that doesn’t account for the fact he is one of the best running quarterbacks of the decade. Josh Johnson, on the other hand, has never even won an NFL start, has a career quarterback rating under 60 and hasn’t thrown a pass since 2011. The Redskins will play the Giants this week at home with Sanchez as their No. 1 guy and Johnson as his backup.
